Pain control / meds access to any help?

I am aware of the concerns in the medical profession with dealing with chronic pain patients.  I have been told to my face by doctors that they have to seek to protect themselves first and foremost.  -They feel they have to do so due to a dr. here in the area who has gotten in major trouble.  Forgive me but are there no doctors in Kansas willing consider the patients dealing with chronic pain?  I simply wish to be able to function at a level with all of the pain that I have to deal with currently.  I know that it would be unrealistic to look for all of the pain to be gone.  It seems that I need to leave the state of Kansas to get decent medical care dealing with my chronic pain.
